Building a business on Actuon? Let's talk. Agreements are defined per project — tell us what you are building.

Actuon components are sold through this store to builders and integrators, and most customers need nothing beyond the purchase. This page is for the ones who do: manufacturers putting Actuon inside a product they sell, distributors, and companies installing systems for their clients.

Four ways to work with us

Hardware Supply — for manufacturers and integrators building on Actuon hardware commercially: the Actuon8 with the Actuon-SIB safety module, AX150-750 actuators and COG control wiring.

Actuon Professional — the full COG stack: hardware, Actuon Control Manager Professional Edition, diagnostics, motion tuning, SDK and API, commissioning and professional support.

OEM — for manufacturers integrating Actuon on a recurring basis: volume supply, software, lifecycle planning, NRE and commitments.

Custom Integration — for companies running proprietary software, simulators or middleware. COG does the integration work.

What an agreement can include

Scope is defined per project, because a two-seat training room and an OEM programme are not the same problem. Depending on your application:

• OEM, resale or distribution terms
• Defined use of Actuon branding on your product
• Actuon Control Manager Professional Edition
• Defined number of units, seats or sites
• SDK and API access
• Integration and commissioning support
• Professional support terms
• Volume supply and forecasting

When you need one, and when you don't

Most situations do not need an agreement at all. It is worth being clear about which is which.

The dividing line is simple: operating a system is yours to do, selling one is a conversation with us.

Finished COG systems: nothing extra needed

If you bought a COG-SHH-3DOF Motion System V3, a COG simulator with motion, or any other finished COG motion product, you can put it to work as you see fit:

• SimHub — an independent third-party product. The SimHub software, any licence it requires and the terms under which it may be operated commercially come from its developer, not from COG.
• ACM Standard Edition — commercial and professional use permitted
• ACM Professional Edition — commercial and professional use permitted, with the analysis, tuning and diagnostic tools on top

Rental, simulation centres, pay-per-use and commercial operation are covered by either ACM edition, and nothing beyond it. There is no second "commercial use" licence to buy.

Static simulators do not use ACM or the COG motion system, so their commercial use is not tied to any edition at all.

The four things that are separate

It helps to keep these apart, because they follow different rules.

Hardware is yours to integrate. The Actuon8, the Actuon-SIB, the AX150-750 and COG control wiring are components for the system you design and build.

Software comes in two editions, and both permit commercial use. They differ in capability: Professional adds the analysis engine with run-to-run comparison, 3D visualisation and actuator tuning, the External API and the hexapod provider. If you run SimHub or your own software instead, ACM licensing does not come into it.

Brand is agreed in writing. Using "Actuon", "Powered by Actuon" or "COG" on a product you sell is something we define together.

OEM, resale and supply to third parties are handled directly with us, whatever software you run.

What an agreement does not include

• Internal communication protocol
• Firmware or source code
• Schematics, PCB files or bill of materials
• Manufacturing documentation
• Ownership of any intellectual property

We supply finished, supported products and, where the project needs it, SDK and API access.

Frequently asked questions

I bought a COG motion system. Can I use it in my simulation centre, or rent it out?
Yes. Both ACM editions permit commercial use, so rental, pay-per-use and commercial operation are covered either way. Nothing further is needed.

Then why would I choose Professional Edition?
For capability, not permission. You tune against measurements instead of by feel, the 3D view shows what the platform is actually doing, and the diagnostics tell you the state of the machine before it becomes a problem in front of a customer. If you run more than one, the same comparison is what makes them all feel identical.

I bought an Actuon8 to build my own rig. Is the hardware restricted?
No. The hardware is yours to integrate, and either software edition lets you operate the result commercially. What needs an agreement is selling, supplying or branding systems.

What if I run SimHub or my own software on Actuon hardware?
Then ACM licensing does not apply to you at all. SimHub is an independent product, and its licence and terms of use come from its developer. What still applies is everything that is not software: selling, supplying or branding systems is agreed with us.

Can I build systems on Actuon components and sell them?
That is a separate conversation — selling is not a software question, and no edition of ACM covers it. Tell us about the project and we will find the right model.

Does buying more units make me a reseller?
No. Quantity is not the criterion. Resale as a professional or recurring activity is what needs a distribution agreement, whatever the volume.

Can I sell my own used unit?
Yes. Occasional private sale of your own unit is fine. If software is involved, let us know so the licence and support record follows the machine.

Does COG validate the system I build?
Not automatically — we supply the components and the documented interface, and the finished machine is your design. Validation of a specific build is available as an engineering service if you want it.

Do I get the protocol or firmware with an agreement?
No, but SDK and API access is on the table where the project needs it.

Per project — it depends on the model, the volume and the support level. Tell us what you are building.
