Actuon Control Cable — DB9 to DB25
The control cable that carries one Actuon8 control channel to the control connector of a servo drive. It is made to COG's own pinout for the Actuon8, and it is the cable the system is designed to run on — the same one supplied with every Actuon8 Motion Controller Package, sold individually as a spare or to extend an existing installation.
Each cable carries one control channel. A belt tensioner uses two, a 3DOF platform four, a hexapod six and a 6DOF platform seven.
Made for the Actuon8, not adapted to it
This is not a generic serial cable. The signal assignment between the DB9 on the Actuon8 and the DB25 on the AASD drive is specific to the Actuon control layer, and the published servo drive parameters assume it. A standard off-the-shelf cable of the same connectors will not drive the system.
It arrives assembled and tested, so there is nothing to wire, verify or troubleshoot. That is deliberate: the control link between controller and drive is where an intermittent fault is hardest to find and most expensive to chase.

The Actuon8 presents one DB9 connector per control channel, eight in total. The DB25 is the control connector on the AASD servo drive.
When you need one
- Replacing a damaged cable
- Adding a channel to an existing Actuon8 installation
- Keeping a spare for a system in continuous use
Moving from one configuration to another — belt tensioner to 3DOF, or 3DOF to 6DOF — needs the additional cables plus the matching servo drive parameters, which are published with the Actuon8.
A spare is worth having. A motion platform with a failed control cable is a platform that does not run, and this is the one part of the chain you cannot source locally.
